It has been awhile since I've boated the Intermediate river - but when I did last time it was in an I/O that I've lost more props on than any ski boat I've owned. This is a your mileage may vary type event - but you can probably make it there.

There is a Marina that rents boats - you can probably reach out to them and see what the depth is like lately.

For me that's approaching a ~3 hour one way trip.

Swimmers Itch - its a parasite that infects freshwater snails and waterfowl - the snails harbor the parasite which ducks eat the snails and poo out the parasite which then burrows into the skin of ducks and such and lives that natural life cycle.

Unless of course they land on your skin and you climb out of the water, and they then burrow into your skin to avoid drying out and then most people get itchy red bumps kind of like mosquito bites.

Some summers there doesn't seem to be any around. I never get it unless I muck about in the shallows, but if you wade in from shore your pretty well going to be exposed.

Most prevalent in warm water between 1-3 ft. Most likely to be an issue when wind is blowing onto the sandbar. All northern Michigan lakes have it. I usually get it once or twice a year. It's a ***** for about 4 hours. A benedryl and a cocktail (or two) makes you forget about it until the itch is gone.

We’ve had a lot of luck going through AirBnb, VRBO or even Craiglist:MICHIGAN:Northern Michigan. We tend to find the more “cottage” style places. Meaning a little rougher than home, but perfect for the Northern Michigan summertime lifestyle.

Enjoy the water, but be warned it can get big when the wind kicks up. August is best, and I’d recommend avoiding the holidays as it gets incredibly busy there at the sandbar.
