2013 XSTAR Gen 2 surf set up

Looking for suggestions on surf setups. I just purchased the boat this past spring and the previous owner modified all of the factory settings . Looking to restore them as well as add more that work for others -any help would be appreciated.

Dealer would know if no one on here comes forward with the answers. By factory settings you mean the profiles right?

2013 XSTAR Gen 2 surf set up

OK, here you go. The X-Star with gen2 will surf as good as any boat with the right settings. I have surfed an x20 and its as good or better than that. Never had the chance to surf an x23 or loaded x30. We do not add any lead or extra bags anywhere which could make it even better.

First, I have changed all the profiles to 100% fill for all bags and tanks.

Second, know what changes to the tabs does. Don't use the center tab at all. The lesser the tab setting the steeper the wake and shorter, the higher the tab setting the more mellow and longer. The tab setting affects the steepness more than the length.

Third, the slower the speed the steeper and shorter, the faster the speed the more mellow and longer. Speed affects the length more than the steepness. I have found that the starboard/goofy surfing takes more speed.

Fourth, if you have too much weight (people) in the front you will lose push from the wake. I have found that ideal distribution is 2 back to 1 front, keeps plenty of push and the bow doesn't get too high.

In order to make the changes to the wake easier, I have added several profiles. This takes some time up front, but saves tons later and makes it easier for others to change the wake for you. Last year I had my profiles named based on the tab settings L40=40% tab, L70=70% tab, etc. Last winter I had the software updated and can no longer use numbers in the profile name, so I use letters LA, LB, etc. (bigger pain)

All regular/port settings use 10.8 mph
LA= 40% tab (Steepest)
LB= 50% tab
LC= 60% tab (normal setting)
LD= 70% tab
LE= 80% tab
LF= 90% tab
LG= 100% tab (mellowist)

Goofy/starboard setting use 11.0 mph
R= 100% tab

We don't have any goofy riders. The only thing we use the R setting for is transfers. With all the bags full, the goofy side is steep on its own. If there is not enough weight on the starboard side it will actually be too steep and not clean. I will actually have people move to the starboard side if someone is going to try to ride on the goofy side (probably why stock settings only have you fill the port tank or bag fill 50%. If you have goofy riders on a regular basis you might want to go back to this setting or put lead or other weight on the starboard side.

Turn off autolaunch, you won't need it and it can make the tabs come out of adjustment faster.

From time to time you may notice the wake not being as expected. This is due to the tabs not being where the computer thinks they are. What I do to fix this is when we stop I will manually raise all the tabs to 0% and keep holding the button for a few seconds to make sure the tabs retract all the way.

If you surf in a river of other body of water with a current, you will need to adjust the speed depending on whether your going with or against the current since the speed control is gps based.

Here is my factory setting with 400lbs of lead wake and 2 people in the boat. I am not sure where the trim was set but I am typically around 60% for surfing regular. I always verify the wave before actually surfing it, a little variation in weight distribution and tab can make big differences.

Here's a video of my son. The angle doesn't do the size justice. https://vimeo.com/172915098
