Piggyback/Gen 2 hoses & Fittings

So yesterday i noticed an elbow fitting on my gen two bag had busted.
Split in two places and completely broke off.

Let me vent here...
1. What absolute garbage quality plastic - shocked doesn't begin to explain it. Cheap and brittle - why not use brass?
2. Who in their right mind uses Oeitker clamps anymore? I haven't seen these in years..

So now i need to fix. Anyone see issues with using a screw clamp on the hose/elbow?

Thanks
