New to surfing. Need help picking board!

I'm currently board hunting and I'm looking for a good solid board that isn't a piece of junk for my girlfriend and I to learn on. Any recommendations would be great.

Liquid Force Fish
Phase 5 has good boards
Lakewakes custom board, but still better than most off the shelf and about the same price.
Doomswell if you want something you'll never need to replace.

What's your budget?

I was looking to spend around 300 on one, ended getting a good deal on an o'brien Celsius, reviews were good so I figured I'd give it a shot.

We have one of those boards. The only thing you may not like is that the top of the board is convex. There is a ridge down the middle of the board that can cause some foot cramping during long sessions. PM if you want more specifics

Hey RBuss4, which size Celsius did you end up with? I am 6' 230lbs and rode a 5'3" today. I was pleased with it, but I wondered if I could get away with a 4'10" instead.

Can any of you recommend a rope length for surfing behind an X2?
