There are lots of places up and down the Colorado River. But I prefer and would check out Lake Havasu.

Devils Lake as in Wisconsin?
Yes totally different out west. Most lakes are man made and are CoE, BLM, state parks or other govt controlled recreation areas. Most are water supply storage too unlike the Midwest where wells/aquifers supply most all the potable water.
