Speedometer Cleaner Tool

Speedometer quit working. Been going with RPM's for a while. Anyone know where I can find the tool the cleans out the debris or any tips to clean without a tool?

thanks - J

MC used to have a keychain with a pitot clearing tool on it. I recall reading that it was similar to or the same as a very small diameter dentist drill bit. I've used a safety pin with varying results.

I assume you are talking about the pitot? or are you talking about the paddlewheel?

i use a pin and some compressed air to clean pitots, starting by removing the hose and clearing the bottom ends (if you can blow in and have someone see the guage reading the pressure you'll know the pitot was the plug.

I have one of the official TeamMasterCraft Speed-O-Routers in my boat.

Works as good as a denist drill on a string.

I had one of the MasterCraft ones from my dealer a while back - have not seen it in ages. It reminded me of a welder tip-cleaner.

Paperclip. Free if you steal it out of your desk drawer at work.

Guess what...I am a dentist....

It is called a "root canal file" or an endodontic reamer. It is a "size 80"
Ask your dentist if you can have/buy a pack. They generally come in 5-6 files per pack for about 25-30 bucks. They are about 5 bucks each...I think....They won't have the official float on them, but I always found that they got in the way.

I have had patients ask for much stranger things....
