Engine dies when put in gear

Hey guys!we are running a 02 x7 great boat love it.at times when j put the boat in gear to straighten out to pull a skier it will kinda gargle then die.but if I goose it a little it will be fine,any help out there would be great ,oh and sometimes when I put it in gear and back to neutral the engine will rev real high ,it takes a few seconds for the idol to come back down,any help would be great!thanks

check engine light? TPS comes to mind but this is a fairly generic symptom. What engine?

I would start with how old the spark plugs are. Basics first.

It's never had the check light come on,it's only got 200hrs on it,plugs may be original I will start there!thanks

my old 05 supra would do that. turned out to be the fuel filter.

My 99 prostar had the earlier version of this engine. When mine did the same thing it was less than good gas. The engine was trying to run too rich to accomodate the gas and it was messing with the computer.

310HP right? - check fuel filters and fuel pump inlet. which fuel pump do you have - in tank or in line?

I'm not sure on fuel pump,I have to look ,this problem started towards the end of last year,I winterized it and put it away,where do you guys shop for fuel filters and other parts?yeah 310hp
