The 6.2 is a fantastic motor. Plenty of power. I would also stick with the Denali and NOT the esck.. no reason too. Denali has everything you want. I have a new tahoe with the 5.3 and it tows very well to be honest. Better than my 5.4 F150. And when not towing i can get up to 23.5 mpg on the highway which is amazing for a tahoe in the premier package. No ford is getting that, even the ECO. And yes, i have a bud with a new f150, and he can get about 20 and thats it. I strongly believe in the saying "its either eco or turbo" and no in between.
My ecoboost easily gets 25mpg at 70mph. The 2.7 eco in the F150s can get 30... buddy put 90k on his 2.7 and got over 25mpg average for the life of the truck. Not 90k easy miles either...

If I drove 70mph I could easily get in the 20s in a lifted truck with35s and the 6.2L.

Most people I know with the ECO boost said the gas mileage isn't all that great.

I doubt that you will keep it long enough to find out.

What's been the story on your last two vehicles...

F250 was dying of self inflictef wounds and the Toyota quality notion is now a fallacy

My EcoBoost gets a whopping 13 MPG...but that power though. Better than the 250 diesel I had...

I've had the chance to tow with both of these motors here are my thoughts...

2015 GMC Yukon denali with the 6.2 for LOTS of miles averaged about 8 MPG towing my X45

My 2013 F150 with the ecoboost and now our 2018 Expedition Max with Ecoboost average about 9.5-12 MPG depending on where I am driving (through the mtns here in CO, down to Powell, etc etc) I realize this doesn't sound like much, but that is 15-35% better millage in literally exact same driving conditions, same boat, same family in the vehicle.

I will seat the pants dyno is MUCH stronger here at elevation with the ecoboost as well. I did like the air ride suspension on the GMC as it self leveled even under load, but after that the 6.2 doesn't tow anything like the ecoboost, and I don't care what the 1/4 numbers are, etc.

Traveling up hill, passing speeds, etc are MUCH stronger with the ecoboost, not even comparable in my opinion. My Denali did only have the 6 speed, didn't have the 8. Towed our boat all across the country (CO to Wis and back) and just wasn't impressed with the set-up in the GMC. That's is what led to the trade on the Expedition in my house, that's my .02 anyways. Best of luck, they are all awesome vehicles.

I'll add from my rental car fleet experience. I also drove the 2018 Expedition (I assume Limited), and it was VERY quick! 10 speed tranny....it just pulled and pulled. I was impressed (being a GM guy) and it was the first time I really looked into the differences. The Max is basically a suburban designation. Without Max, a Tahoe/Yukon designation.

I also found out that the Expedition Platinum has a higher HP rated engine than the XLT or Limited (375 HP vs. 400 HP).

Every time I rent from Enterprise, I ask for a Yukon/Tahoe...and they never seem to have. But this last time, I was able to get a hold of a 2019 Tahoe, 5.3L. It's not the 6.2L, but at least a comparo. Again, after driving, the Ford was much quicker off the line and was a little more fun to drive. We plan on renting another rig tomorrow for the week so I'll see what we get next......

thanks for all the input guys. the ecoboost/ford is just not an option. sorry to be stubborn about that. we just got burnt by them in the past and refuse to buy another ford vehicle with one of those motors (second generation or not)... we test drove a denali yukon xl and an escalade esv so far. will for sure be getting one of those two before the month ends or early next month.
