Floor inspection hatch fitment

Hi Guys

I have 1993 Prostar 190 , all running fine .
I would like to be able to check on the stuffing box and shaft through out the season for obvious reasons , however there is no quick and easy way to do this without lifting the floor panel .
I am thinking fitting an inspection hatch in the floor .
Has anyone done this and does it weaken the honeycombe alloy floor panel .

Many thanks

Kevin

I did it 8 years ago with a hatch bought from West Marine and so have others. Works well with this packing nut wrench here, http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=WRENCH
