New Headunit suggestions

I have a 2002 X-30. One of my winter projects is to replace my 2 year old headunit that quite at the beginning of last summer. I see MC using Fusion headunits. If I go with one from Fusion, what model do people suggest?

My system:
3 Kicker amps; 1,000W for tower speakers, 700W for sub and 700W for the 4 interior speakers
Wetsounds WS-420

Thanks for any input.

If your looking at the Fusion I have the 755 and like it for it's zones audio level control, it has Bluetooth, aux, iPod input and SiruisXM ready. I added the SiruisXM tuner and very happy with it. It's on the expensive side specialy if you want to add remotes.

I like the Fusion RA70N is a great price point head. it will work well with the WS-420. Just make sure you get the "N" version as it supports the N2K backbone for remotes. Up from there, id likely go with one of the new Apollo series.

Clarion, either the M608 or M508.

The Apollo has a DSP, which not only provides tailored sound when using the Fusion speakers, it has more generic response contours for others, in various sizes. It can use WiFi or a wired connection to the network and the DSP prevents a lot of the distortion that can not only sound bad, it kills speakers. The price is about the same as the 755, but the face is larger, so that may preclude it from fitting in some boats. It uses a touch screen, too- pretty nice piece.

Any head unit that has these abilities needs to be updated as soon as it's connected to power.

Oh, yeah- it also uses AirPlay in addition to Bluetooth.

Will the Fusion MS-RA70N control three (3) zones: interior speakers, tower speakers and sub? Right now when I mute my interior speakers using the WS-420, I also lose my sub.

I'd like to be able to mute the interior speakers and run the tower speakers and sub at the same time.

The RA70N has 2 zones and woofer level. The woofer zone is tied to zone 1, much like the 420 woofer is tied to in-boat zone.

If you want true 3-4 zone control, step up to one of the other Fusion units or consider the Wet Sounds MC-1 and eliminate the WS-420

Sounds like you have the old style WS-420. You can swap the in-boat and tower RCA around, so the woofer is no linked to the tower. Tower volume dial controls in-boats, in-boat volume dial controls tower, woofer dial controls woofer when in-boat dial is turned up.
