Rev 10 or 8 on 05 X2?

Bought a 05 Mastercraft X2 this fall and starting to plan what I want to do with the stereo this winter so maybe I can find some deals this holiday season. As of now the boat came with two stock speaker cans and stock speakers ran by a JL e2150m amp, one of the stock speakers does not work. My plan is to ditch all the stock tower setup and go with 1 pair of Rev 10s, but I was measuring today and it seems like the rev 10s would hang down to low/be to large for the smaller 205v hull. Anybody with a 205v and rev 10s? Do they get in the way? Should I go with 1 pair of Rev 8s instead? Would prefer to have one pair of whatever speakers I do get and would like to hear the music while wakeboarding.

For the amp I already have a exile XI1K harpoon amplifier from my previous boat, would this be a good amp for a pair of rev 10s? The amp is rated for 300W x2 at 4ohm. Also will only one battery be ok with this amp or should I go with one of the newer amps that are class D(which don't draw as much power from my understanding?). 80-90% of the time the engine is running when we are out. Not much just sitting around. My other option is to get a new amp like the SYN-DX4 or go with a cheaper amp like percision power. Sorry for the long post trying to make sure I do it right the first time...

I cannot help with the real world walking around that boat with 10's or 8's, sorry. With that said, I would everything I could, to go with the larger 10. With such a narrow price difference, the extra output and mid-bass is so worth it.

Sadly, the manufacturer grossly overstated that amp's output. To a single pair of 4 ohm speakers, its roughly 200W rms. Now, is this enough for a rev-10? Sure. Is it pushing it to its potential? no.

One battery? as on one battery only, or one house battery and one cranking? As long as you are not wanting to drop anchor and play for a number of hours, one battery is fine.

Yes, class-D is far more efficient, so they can produce more output, with less draw.

Thank you I will be looking at getting a new amp then as well. Don't want to spend the money on nice speakers then not have a enough power for them. To clarify the boat only has one battery total for both house and cranking.

I would consider adding a second battery your accessories if you can. Its extra work but it would be nice to do it all at once. I wasn't able to do this with our upgrades as I had to phase them in due to cost, but doing it all over one winter would have been nice if I could have.

Is it the ND tower similar to this one? If so, my buddy has Rev10s on his Ď04 X2 and there is zero issue with them hanging too low. That tower is really tall.

Yeah ideally I would like to add a second battery this winter too as eventually I want another amp for interior speakers and a sub. Also like to not worry about the boat having enough power to start back up.

Thanks. Thereís definitely something timeless and classic about the 205v with that tower on it. The lines just flow well together, and the low profile adds to the appeal, especially when itís weighted down. I guess Iím biased, though!

Slightly different tower but it looks every bit as tall as mine. Rev10s will probably fit on that tower better than most.
