I Love them. I have had 9 since 1995. The current 2017 is the new bike with counter balanced motor. It is hard to believe a two stroke can be that smooth. I put a JD jet kit in and let it rip. Bike runs perfect.
And no it is not heavy at all. 219/220lbs or so.

I'm thinking when KTM brings the fuel injected two stroke 250 to the US I may very well get one. I demoed the KTM race like at the beginning of the year. I was mixed on the 450 - felt heavy in the corners. Power delivery was smooth and consistent. I don't need the hydraulic clutch as much as a clutch that just plain feels good at engagement and during slipping. Suspension was meh, but it was not set up for my specific weight so you can only tell so much. The bike I walked away was the 250sx which is funny since it was the first time I rode a 2 stroke. I rode it like my 250 - rev the snot out of it. Man that 250 has incredible power - scary power.

Yesterday I was at a track that has a big hill - so fun going up WFO. Wide eyed I'm sure going into the corner at the bottom. Actually you get to go up and down that hill twice each lap. Not sure which up-down I like the most. Both are a blast. Finally learning not to tense up my upper body going down the hill and into the turn - so much smoother!

In other words, you made it into a medium range long distance bike with some comfort, and the ability to haul the bare necessities, instead of the previous 5 mile bar hopper it was. You fixed the bike up to do what it was made to do, not just look cool for the weekend warriors.

Need to show off my newest ride. 2017 KTM 250xc. Already ran three hare scrambles on it. Handles like a dream!
