Thanks!!! Excited to get back out. Not that we have bad winters just my demands of my job take me off the water for a few months over the winter. Love the 05's too!

I start thinking about upgrading from our Tristar to something a little newer. I'm torn between the 197 and a x2 (yes very different boats I know). Do you guys have any recommendations when it comes to looking at 197's? Years to stay away from?

Thanks

the EVO hull begins in 2003 I believe, best hull except for the brand new one. I recall a rudder change in maybe 2006 that improves the wake a little

EVO started in 2001 and ran through 2013. First year model had a "T" rudder, which was intended to compensate for no hook in the back of the hull, which brings the nose of the boat down. I believe by 2002, and definitely by 2003 the hook was added, and no more "T" rudders. 2003 Tournament Boats had an adjustable rudder which I liked. Allowed you to tinker with the pull on the steering wheel.

Early year boats had some trouble with upholstery splitting. I had a 2003 Tournament Team boat that was garage kept and I never had any issues. Sold the boat in 2012 and as far as I know it still is fine. Just depends on how it was cared for.

Other than graphics, the hulls are the same from 2001-2013 (save for above hook). DBW was standard by 2006 (some 2005 tournament boats had it), and perfect pass was replaced with zero-off somewhere along the lines...probably around 2007 or 2008. There was also the Indmar to Ilmor engine change I believe in 2010 or 2011.

Thanks for the info. I'm still a little torn on which way to go, and will likely be researching for awhile longer. I have been skiing the course again lately and it would be nice to have a good ski wake, but I am the only one in the family that skis. The wife likes the idea of having more room in an x2 and the ability to surf.

As soon as the bank sends me the check, I'll hopefully be the proud new owner of a 197 tt (pending test drive, of course). The waiting.....
