Calling on prop experts for a custom application

Hey guys,

I performed recently a larger retrofit of my former Sportstar into a 19ft V-drive due to various reasons I am gonna share in more details in a specific thread around the different steps I have been through this major project.....

However, in the meantime, and although some finish details (freeboard gelcoat, upholstery, plugged-in ballast tanks, etc.) will be ongoing during coming winter, I am begging for a prop advice from you experts.

Basically, my boat is a Sportstar hull (19ft version of Gen1 X-Star), and theretrofit included installation of a Hurth ZF 63 IV (1.55/1.56 gear ratio) to the original 310 HP Predator 350 TBI engine.

I performed successful mechanical water test using a 13.7x17 OJ stock prop, resulting in a running speed of 20 mph @ 1750 RPM. I feel the RPM are a bit low at similar speed compared to my previous dd configuration, also my program will now be 60% wakeboard / 30% wakesurf / 10% open water slalom ski.

Which prop setup would you guys recommend to optimize performance, considering above program and considering that wetted surface of my hull is slightly less than of a Gen1 X-Star?

Thanks for your input.
Clement

Well Done for sure! Please call Eric from OJ Props and ask him. Give him the details of the boat and your goal.

omg, what a nice transfer! I have not seen this done with the exception of someone doing a vdrive out of a old nautique 2001 model.

What is the WOT rpm and how are you going to use the boat? The ACME 1631 4 blad will work well with the 1.55:1 gear and is a lower pitch then that 17 OJ but about the same dia. The 1431 is 13.5 x 14.25. Should do well for general use, but may be a little high on the RPM for barefooting.

I'm impressed. That looks like a heck of a project. I'd love to see more pics.

That looks awesome! What amount of ballast do you plan on using?

Guessing you have the 1 1/8" shaft? I run the 14x20 4 blade off a Gen1 Xstar and it works well with mine. Only run about 800lbs of ballast with three in the boat, but it had no issues getting out of the hole. Prop is common with Malibu as well as easy to find used in the states.

Nice work on the teak platform. Curious how the surf tabs work on such a small hull.
