As others have suggested, if they are tired, the motion of 10-15min of riding knocks 'em out....

Buy a cheap electric tooth brush and put it under his bedding and turn it on.

A few beach towels, bimini up, and if the Ilmor is running they sleep as good as anywhere

Ditto on the motion. We would do a slow lap around the lake, bust out the jumper seat, bimini and he was out.

When my son was six just an easy cruise would put him down in the afternoon. Once just cruising to see the sites he fell asleep on a three person tube! I'd drop anchor then grab 30 mins myself! 10 years later my pre-team daughter and her friends still crash out in the afternoons when we surf. Full days skiing/boarding/surfing and a warm summer day makes it easy.

I have been thinking about this as well. Our twins just turned 2 and one falls asleep if there is motion but the other is like me and needs to lay flat and be dark. I was thinking about making a filler cushion for the bow and rigging some material over the bow and window (so its more vaulted) and running a fan like the below to keep air moving. This would of course not be done while underway but for floating, swimming, etc...

Worked all day on both of our kids. But this may also explain some issues they had later on in life.

(I'm just kidding)
