Anniversary Beach vacation ideas???

my bride and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary of 40 years this summer and looking for some ideas of places to go. Nothing too expensive (wife is overly budget oriented ), beach with warm waters, would welcome an all inclusive minus alcohol (is that even an option?), area sites to see, transportation, likely late August ... Had some friends toss out Tulum and Akumal Mexico but are open to other locations.

so I have some time to plan and research ... figured what better place to ask than here ...

Couple was nice as an ultra all inclusive. That includes things like scuba diving, water skiing, wakeboarding, etc. And of course alcohol, but they don't make you drink. One nice touch at couples those like it is that is that you can get food delivered to your room, or a cheese plate and a bottle of wine or bubbly anytime you want. Most would include transportation. I really like Cozumel and Jamaica but there are tons of options... Congrats on the big 40 anniversary.

In my mind, all inclusive resorts are terrible. Packed, lame and actually “include” very little other than food and booze. Plus, they exploit the hell out of the locals.

Look into Hawaii, specifically Maui. You can rent a nice condo on the beach in South Kehei for about $80/night. Flights can be had cheap as well. Tons to see and do in Maui, and there’s great restaurants everywhere. Much more to be had for your money, and the beaches are nicer. A half hour in the water at Ulua Beach will likely net you Turtle and Manta sightings.

thanks, we've been to Hawaii several times, several islands ... she was wanting warm water, like Mexico or islands out into the southern gulf/Atlantic.

looks pretty nice but outdoor shower?

I suspect there are restaurants and/or grocery stores near by?

Gonzo, when will you be going?

Best time to go to Mexico, Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, etc. is Jan or Feb. Not too hot, rainy, or humid during those months. Mostly 85 degrees. We always went during the Superbowl week. Perfect weather in 7 times there.
