Really upset with my auto insurance co

I ran over an opened pack of shingles last Thursday night on a black topped road. When my tire went over them, it shifted while I was accelerating normally and wheel hopped. Crack crash grind and I was stuck on the side of the road. I called my ins co to get a tow to the closest trans shop. The phone operator explained that my insurance covers this type of damage ( full coverage ) and has my vehicle towed to their recommended body shop and furnished me a rental. Ok, the truck sits at the body shop who tells my ins co that there is no visible damage and the tran went out due to wear and tear. Uh? I get my claim rep on the phone that has my vehicle towed to the tran shop I originally mentioned for a trans diagnostic. The trans shop takes the trans apart finding the output, rear planetary, and trans case ruined. My ins co then denied my claim because there is no external damage to the truck and this was ď internal mechanical damageĒ and not covered since there are no other signs of damage.

They informed me that the claim is denied in a claims message and to return my rental vehicle the next day. I work a 48 hour shift starting the next morning. WTH! no rental and Iím paying to have my truck fixed when you initially told me as long as it is not normal wear and tear that Iím covered

broken hard parts from a wheel hop isnít normal wear and tear associated with burnt out clutches. Just wanted to Rant! The trans guy told the adjuster that he hasnít seen it before but it is possible in his opinion

wow, this is based on only the information that you said but insurance is not a maintance policy. based on no evidence of damage to the transmission or driver train I don't see where there would have been coverage. weird that it was a coincidence that it appears the failure happened when you hit the shingles. being in the insurance industry for over 25 years, part as a adjuster and a majority as a agent one phrase I try to inform my clients is there is really no such thing as "full coverage"! by law in most states you have to carry liability coverage. if your vehicle has a loan on it or it's of good value you carry collision and comprehensive coverage. everything else is like going to a cafeteria. the following are going to be options to add and trust me if you took everything you would not like the premium. such things as med pay, um and or uim coverage, pip if avail in your state. loss of wagers, emergency road service, rental , disability income, gap, and it goes on and on.

myself and BryanC work for a company that was rated #1 in claims service by JD powers so it's rare for me to have a gripe from a client if coverage would be there. hope things work out for you.
