Change the trans fluid. Take a chance on a 30 dollar fix before you pull the trans.

Clutchpack warped - Rebuild required...

Vince with Fantastic Finishes / Marine Transmissions thinks the clutches have warped and it will need a rebuild. $850 plus shipping - ouch but better than the price of new or refurbished for sale I have seen.

Jury is still out, I need to make time to troubleshoot a bit more before I extract the beast and ship it out.

Ben

Those guys do great work.

Get a rebuild and know it is good to go. Ship it freight or Greyhound Bus Lines.

I hear you, Tim. Might just be an accumulation of trash in the fluid making the clutches drag when in neutral. Lol, i guess i'll change the fluid and see how that goes.

Sweet!

Update for anyone in Oregon

Was easy to work with and accommodated a Saturday drop off and late Friday pick up. Had a warped clutch disk as well as a bearing going out that was grooving a shaft so he replaced the main gear shaft and rebuilt the transmission. I am good to go and back on the water. Now just need to tune up my newly rebuilt carb to improve my start up.
