Courtesy lights

Has only one swapped out their courtesy light for colored ones? The ones that light up the floor. Drives me crazy having a red led package and then white lights lighting up the floor and swim platform. If any one has done this what lights did you use. It is my understanding that the courtesy lights are diodes so not a simple bulb change.

On mine, I covered them with an Orange translucent film(boats orange). It did a pretty good job but it did dim the actual lights a bit.

Is the lens glass, or plastic? Probably plastic, but I just installed some LED courtesy lights in a friends' boat and he wanted yellow, but they're not easy to find, or inexpensive. I used a a yellow highlighter marker and it's not bad. I suspect it will wipe off with alcohol.

I replaced mine with blue LEDs off amazon. It came with as a whole assembly, not just a bulb. IIRC they were $5 each. They throw out a really good amount of light.

Can you remove the lamp from the assembly and post a picture of it? My courtesy lights were all incandescent festoon type bulbs. I just went to www.superbrightleds.com and did a swap out to an LED version of the Festoon. Cheap, simple and they look good. Pretty much any color you want. I got red.

Don't be afraid to change styles if you find one you like. Easy to install.

This.^^^

I did that to mine. Looks good. My boat is older and didn’t come with courtesy lights, but the LED lights you can get on Amazon/eBay are cheap and work well. Some are also waterproof. I got mine for less than $10 on eBay. Went with blue to match my speaker LED lights and cup holder LED rings.
