05 X-2 with OEM 15" wanting to upgrade to 18" wheels

Hey guys, I have a 2005 X-2 with the OEM 15" wheels. I would like to upgrade to 18" wheels, but as I understand it, this cannot be done do to the constraints of the fenders. Has anyone modified the fenders to allow clearance for 18" wheels. I figured I could weld brackets to the trailer that would give the fenders elevated mounting holes, I could also cut out some of the wheel well and or run spacers. Thanks for your help in advance.

Two issues I envision:
- raising the fenders might cause problems with the hull hitting them when launching and retrieving
- with larger wheels/tires you will need to back in further on the launch

Wouldn't the diameter of the 18" wheels be offset by lower profile tires? On my trucks, my wife's 20's on her Tahoe and the 18's on my Sierra have the same diameter tires.

JohnE,

That was my fear as well.

Wheelerd,

My thoughts exactly, but apparently the stock wheel has a 5 or 6" width and zero offset - I've been having an impossible time finding those specs in an 18" wheel.

I agree, so glad I jumped on it. I left my home at 3am in Houston to be in Fort Worth just before TMC opened. If I would have been 30 minutes late someone else would own it.

I thought the single axle had the 15" and the tandems had the 14"??
