Have it rebuilt.

If they want to charge $3600 to remove and reinstall a transmission, tell them to justify the cost. At $100/hour, that's 36 hours and I can't fathom taking that much time, even with a couple of hours for realignment.

Yea I did ask that question. Minimum of two guys working on it. Got to take the whole swim deck apart. Pull motor/trans to replace. And put all back together, realign and then lake test. I thought it was high too and hopefully it is.

Got the estimate yesterday and I didn't realize they had put on a quote for a rudder and rudder box. So for transmission R and R it's 11 hrs labor plus 1.5 for alignment and 2 for lake test. Also includes 2 for diagnostic. Total quote for just trans is about 6K.
