Wakesurfing the MasterCraft X7/197

My kids want to try wakesurfing. I know the X7 is not ideal for wakesurfing but I'm wondering who's having success wakesurfing their X7/197. What's the best ballast setup and I'd really like to hear from people who have had success and what your experiences are. Photos would also be great. Thanks

Cover the entire floor in ballast bags...and everyone on one side...it's gonna take a lot of weight and a lot of lean. I'm running 2400lbs in a 205DD and it makes an ok wave. Or build a surfate thing like a lot of people are doing. It's still gonna take a lot of weight regardless.

Sunday we were wakeboarding and I had the rear ballast full and shifted everyone, about 500 lbs, to port and then starboard side to get a look at what the wake looked like. Starboard side looked surfable, port side didn't look as good.

I wouldn't recommend it. The 197 in any incarnation is a slalom hull. I have thrown my 6.1 board back there as a goof however it's not comfortable to me to overload the boat that much. With small kids you should be able to produce a wake suitable for them to catch. I'm usually in search of water as far away from the surf crowd as possible. Lol

I do love to surf, however with the advantage of living in Florida I head to the beach.
