Ilmor Recall/Update

Took the new boat out for the maiden voyage today, but first went by the dealership to let them complete a new recall that came out this week around the engine running too lean.(I believe) The update didn't take long as they just plugged up the laptop to update.

Once on the water I ran into about 3-4 occasions where the engine would turn over but would not start. The only way it would start was to lift the ring on the throttle to get a little more gas in there as I started it. This might be random or might have to do with the flash update on the engine.

Has anyone had this issue with the Gen V engines. I know it's early in the year but figured I would take a shot.

I just took delivery of my 5.7 in my 2017x10. No issues so far with starting or anything like that. I didn't know there was a recall, but could have it been only for the 6.2's?

Hopefully it's a simple adjustment for you!

Recalls are a love hate. Love they found them. Hate how it takes forever to take care of them some times because they're out of parts and can't fix it. Actually know something that can help with recalls. I'll post when it's done testing.

I'm not 100% positive but I think it's only for the 6.2s. Could be wrong though.

I can only imagine your level of frustration on a brand new boat. I hope it's an easy fix.

Overall it runs great and just happened several times throughout the day. Definitely a little frustrating but I do have a great dealer that always takes care of things.

i heard it was for the 5.3's, probably best to call your dealer and ask if your boat is on the list.

Just to clarify. The recall/update was completed yesterday and then the issues started.

I can confirm there is also a recall for the 5500; haven't completed mine yet though since boat is not stored near my dealer in the winter.

I just wanted to update this thread just incase someone else happens to run into this issue. 24 hours after I started this thread I received a call directly from Ilmor, they had already contacted the dealer and wanted to make sure this was fixed(Huge kudos for them proactively figuring out who I was to contact me). We tried a few things with the dealership that seemed to work, but long story short the problem has returned and persist on almost every start.

I took the boat to the dealership today and we lake tested it, so they could record the what is happening and send the information to Ilmor. The engine runs perfect once it starts, but starting is the main issue.

If I had to guess its something with how much fuel its getting on startup, but there are a few other possibilities I'm sure. I wish I ran the boat before they completed the update to see if it was any different, but I never ran the boat before that. I'll update everyone after we receive next steps from Ilmor.
