2018 xt22 or 2017 xstar (both with gen2)

Hello all. Buying my first mastercraft (not first inboard) this week, and we have two very nice options on the table.
Option 1: order a new 2018 xt22 w/ gen2 and 5.3L engine.
Option 2: purchase a practically new 2017 xstar w/ gen2 and 7.4L engine. The xstar is loaded with every possible option.

Our riding needs are: #1 surf, #2 wakeboard, #3 teaching new riders, etc.
Both options are priced the same.

I am worried about the surf wake, and out of the two options would like the one that provides the best surf experience.

Advice from the MC experts would be appreciated.

I had a 2015 xstar. Loved it! It surfs great with 600 lbs lead added to the rear. I liked wave better than g23. 7.4 is a beast!

Either boat is good, but a loaded XStar will provide better amenities and resale value in my opinion.

I Have never riden an X-Star but the XT22 surfs great right out of the box, lots of room we love it.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either one!

Not sure if it matters to you but the Xstar sounds like the better deal and you would likely have better resale on when you sell.

I’m gonna have to go a different direction here. XT22. The Xstar of that generation has been painted with a bad picture for surfing. Resale on them isn’t great, and the 22 will probably surf better.

The looks definitely go to the star. But with the new one out, no way I’d buy the old one.

It probably is the better deal on paper, because a 7.4 Star of that generation probably had an MSRP or around 170-180. It is going to surf good, but Id still take the XT.

What about the XT makes you think it will yield superior surf?

Can’t go wrong with X-Star but the premium audio package with Dual screens on the 18’ XT is pretty sweet.
