I don't look at it as a safety upgrade I look at it at as a stereo upgrade. That being said its not going on until we hit 5 years old or 550 hours (when the drive train warranty ends) because the engine is not loud enough to justify it voiding the warranty to fix it.

PCM and Indmar offer them without issue. Why is it any different?

CO may be less, but I have noticed much more exhaust smell circulating back into the boat while surfing on multiple brands including MC when there is no surf pipe.
I don't notice a ton of steam going up in the surfers face on MCs (like the G23 did before surf pipe) but I have noticed an exhaust smell on multiple occasions.

Not to mention reduced exhaust noise is a nice bonus.

The GDI Ilmor have been rated the cleanest motors on the water. I think particularly the 5500 is the cleanest but that was just verbal info someone gave me. Now after surfing behind my x30 for a bit with the MCX motor I did think about getting some pipes. With my 5500 Ilmor GDI thier is no need for it, and have surfed for long sessions all day behind it.

When we first go the boat, we surfed behind our all day with no ill effects. We did eventually put on pipes but only for the noise reduction.

Im very interested in putting them on to quiet the motor noise and improve overall audio. Its not a CO2 issue for me.

This is the reason I did it and it helps tremendously!

Not only does the stereo sound better, but the pipes look cool. Win/win. My buddy just bought an M235 and the FAE makes a big difference with the audio. Much more than I expected.

What does Ilmor say about the warranty if we so this? I didn't read the whole thread....sorry.
