Observer seat sliding off the base.

I just purchased a 84 SS and i have noticed that the observer seat top slides off of the base. There is no support pieces on it that will keep it from sliding off. I am in the boat business and have seen your simple pieces of plywood mounted to the underside of the seat that will act as a stop. Is this what I should be doing or is there another way that I should be looking at?
