I thought I read somewhere that MC was working on a different bimini.

Boat: Boatless!!! NXT? X2?

So for what it's worth we went to a local dealer boat show today. We went to specifically look at X2 and NXT. At the end of the day we came away solidified in our feeling that we would likely go with an NXT next year when we will be ready.

They had the X2 and the Nxt next to each other. My wife and I went back and forth going through the boats. At the end of the day my wife was more comfortable in her usual "favorite" seating positions where she spent the most time in our old 04 XStar, in the NXT. And she loved the stepped transom on the NXT.

What I liked was the following. Simplicity. Stepped transom. The seats not all being hinged (loved being able to stack cushions and clean everything in our XStar). The layout feels huge for such a narrow beam which my dealer confirmed was for shipping container purposes as it fits in one. Layout of the dash was pleasing simple and user friendly. The boat was very comfortable. Vinyl was fantastic plush and cushy. Everything just seemed user friendly. Lastly I don't mind the look of the tower but i thought it was way more functional for myself because it sweeps forward I can comfortably walk into the boat without ducking. Where as in every other boat I have to basically do the limbo to walk into that boat. The interior doesn't feel any more unfinished than the Xaeries. May just seem that way to other. Over all fit and finish were fantastic. Was very pleased.

I agree with the bimini and look forward to a solid redesign. The tower speakers are smaller and that bothered me. Other than that I really fell in love with the NXT. We did not feel like it was worth spending an extra 25k plus to get into an X2. Especially as I wouldn't even classify us as weekend warriors. We wakeboard quite a bit but are not demanding or needy in that respect.

I do think many here need to lighten up. I've lurked and even posted a few times in the three years since i found this forum and owned an XStar. But the way these threads go it would be annoying to post pictures of a boat I would be very proud of to have someone tear it apart. The MC family is a fantastic one. It should stay that way.

I'll try to post pics here in a few. Have to fire up the laptop.
Cheers!

Further, my salesman said he demoed one late last year for a weekend and enjoyed the boat a bunch. Said surfs just as well as most with extra ballast of course and it would be perfect for our growing family. (7 wk old had a great time napping in the NXT) I am looking forward to getting out on the water in one this summer before we pull the trigger next February. Thank goodness for an entire year to decide color with my wife!

It's a great boat - I was at the show as well. It's your $ - so who cares what others think. I looked very closely at all the other boats in this price range and the NXT is the nicest. It's performance capabilities will be way more than enough for 95% of the people.

I was at the L.A.show today. Regional rep said the X2 & X25 are on there last year and the NXT22 is coming. Last year they told me about the X20 at the show, when it was a prototype.

Nice thorough write-up Lawler. Well said and good info. Looks like a solid attempt by MC to meet a need. What consumer doesn't appreciate having choices?
