Let me know how you turn out as I have the same boat!

I can tell you that a Nauticurl or homemade suck gate with the Cosmos handle will stay on and give you a clean wave. You won't have much push but wave is nice and clean. You can get slack when you drive down the line and lighter riders can get close to going ropeless.

See attached for the wave on my X-14. Stock ballast and another ~1500 lbs in the back of the boa, homemade suckgate. Wife would kill me if she knew I put up a pick of her so you get to see the black blob
