Check Keel Rollers!!

Hello all. I was working underneath my trailer adjusting brake drums and I happened to notice that 2 of the keel rollers were almost completely rotten away in the middle. Luckily I was able to replace both of them before my keel suffered any damage. I am posting it here because this is something that I have always taken for granted and never even gave something like this a second thought.

Here is a pic of the carnage. You can see some of the metal tube peeking through on the roller on the right.

Wow. Those look pretty rough. Good thing you noticed them when you did.

Nice catch...I'll be sliding under my trailer as soon as I get home. Thanks for the heads up!

Mine was in about the same shape a couple of years ago. I replaced mine with one of the new poly rollers.

Me too. Bought it from etrailer.

Don't cut the shaft! The new replacement ones they sell are too short. I have not found a good way to remove pal nuts so I busted out the hacksaw.

That's what I would have like to have done. However, splashing the boat the next day, so had to settle for another set of rubber rollers. Oh well, got 16 years out of the originals.
