Surf Report X20 pics vids

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7re3hZA6RAw

Still from video: Nice light on Sunday evening glass off. X20 still one of the better waves out there. Soulcraft Secrete weapon 4'-8".

Below: Afternoon sun really makes water pop. Also nice shape on that wave

Gone surfing about 25 days so far this season. Have the X20 pretty dialed in. With the X20 dropped from the line not sure how much interest there is but this is what I've figured out:

Waves above in pictures and video are steep stock setting (0-15-85) 11.1mph full ballast plus 280lb rear surf side compartment and 160lb in starboard side. 300 lb of crew. Slight listing creates a steeper rounder (hollow) shape. I think it makes lip more powerful for slashing off of. This is a pretty amazing wave. It would be great if it was longer but don't want to give up any size. Ridable all the way to curl so that helps.

Have played with lots of settings: more center tab looks cleaner and little longer but rounds lip which I don't like. Might be good for landing tricks. Sometimes will use center tab if water is rough. Smooths the wave and reduces boat from bouncing. We usually just go in if its choppy though.

Tried putting weight up front and it is just ugly. Difference from 12 to 14 degrees rise is huge in cleaning up shape. The hull is meant to ride high and the extra rear weight (Ive added) makes it even better.

Just got 2 490 bags for the rear compartments which I tried today. With just a driver and 400lb on wave side 200ish on other side. Wave is bigger and has extra push. No pictures yet. Takes longer for wave to form. Would be a problem with smaller engine I think.

Soulcraft Secret Weapon is amazing. Definitely not made to just stand in the pocket. This board rips! Also picked up a follow surf vest and rip curl 1.5 flash bomb top which I recommend if you're in the market. Can't even feel them and plenty of float.

Extra ballast doing its thing. 490 filled in port locker. With extra rear weight it needs less tab: 80/15/00 (@11.1mph) is better than stock which has hugh face but not steep enough. Wave looked better at 11mph and 77/15/00 but didn't get pics. These were shot over my shoulder with iPhone while driving so not the sharpest.

Thanks for comment! Been a fun summer getting the boat dialed in and learning to wake surf. It helped spending most my youth (ocean) surfing. Dream come true to be surfing again at my age.

Here is vid of wave at 0/15/80 with extra ballast. Steeper and bigger than stock. Maybe not as long tho? Noticeable dif from other vid I posted IMO. Been hazy with NorCal fires so not as pretty. Can't believe how much like a small steep ocean wave it is. It really pumps! Opinions please.

Took rear fins out of board and it is lots faster and more responsive. Still getting used to it.

Also discovered that reducing center tab to 10 makes lip harder, with a more square edge. Really fun and it locks you in wave. Still really like going back to stock (steep) which has a really clean shape and easy to ride. Also seems to have more push by curl. Fun to alternate between them like catching different waves. Every day I change my mind about which is "best".

Wave is looking good , been experimenting as well.
No matter the result, the wave is a little shorter in length then my other boats.
Although when I actually read it it does not seem to matter

Yeah can't get extra length without losing lots of size. Angle of hull and length of boat likely reduce length of wave. (But) Size is really big so no complaints. Can't believe a 20 can put out the wave it does. 1st Pics you posted looked really good. Love how many dif shapes you can get with these boats! Let me know if you unlock any secrets.

BTW great to hear you're back on the water!
