JL Sub

I'm considering replacing my 2002 stock Clarion 10" sub with a JL infinite baffle. I'm pretty sure that some folks on this site have done this. Is the improvement in sound quality worth the expense? Also, is it a simple plug and play procedure or do I have to make adjustments to my stock amp?

It's not worth the $$.

Diesel, are there any settings on the amp that would give me more bass? I don't have much room behind the kick panel for an enclosure.

Well worth the money. I would replace the clarion amp with a jl slash sub amp. I have 2 jl subs under the dash on a 1/1000 jl slash amp, they will make board shorts flap like your standing on the bow.

His opinion...not shared by all. Sound is subjective use your ears if possible. For the VAST majority the JL sub has been a giant leap forward over the Clarion. Is this as good a a W6 or W7 in an enclosure powered by a 1000/1 no...but this is a boat not a listening room with Nelson Pass writting a review. IMHO you will notice a difference over the Clarion and with my pricing it will be with the money spent!

Go give a a 2007 X boat a listen.

Comparing JL to Clarion is like comparing a Corvette to a Cavalier. Just my opinion.................which isn't worth much.

You could just plug and play with that sub. BUT, you spend a lot of money on a sub so it can take a lot of juice and give you your return on investment. Which in this case is awesome bass. Your factory system is OK but if you push that new speaker with a high quality amp you will be much happier. Just my two cents worth. Good luck.
