2017 XT21 vs 2017 X10

Hello, I was wondering what the difference is between the 2017 XT21 and 2017 X10? To my understanding they are built on the same hull. I am extremely confused because many dealers have X10's in-stock, but you cannot build them on mastercraft.com. One of the specific points I am wondering is if the ballast/gen 2 is the same?

Additionally, what is the difference between 2016 vs 2017 X10?

Any insight is appreciated.

So a lot of the dealers had X10's in stock as they had to place their orders to "Get in line" prior to the XT21 being released early this year.

Regarding the differences.... they are similar Hulls... not the same though.. and have the same Gen2, but have different tabs on them. The XT21 has more ballast out of the box. I think the XT21 has a better surf wave, but the X10 is damm close with the 750's in the rear lockers.

The differences for me are in the interior features.... 1 fuel filler (X10 has 2), different interior layout and "sparser" use of cushions, no waterfall glove box and simpler billet accents, more cup holders in the XT, air intake vents are in front of the windshield on the X and by the rear seats on the XT (I think this is a tad noiser IMO) All the XT series take this same approach compared to the X series. The XT has an option for the rear seating where the X10 didn't. The XT is one hell of a boat.. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either IMO. I love my X10 and would love the XT21 as well.

Ryan,

That helped a ton, thanks! A few follow-up questions, why did you choose the X10 over the XT21? Additionally, can you plumb in the 750's in the X10 for plug n' play type use so it automatically fills the bags in the locker?

MC switched the naming to help new customers understand their line up. x10 and x30 were hard for the new customers to grasp. In order to do this, they had to tweak the x10 and x30, so they changed graphics and added more ballast from the factory. Now they are the xt21 and xt30.

In the process of designing 2 new boats, they were more frugal with materials. Less aluminum, no cross stitching on the seats, no embroidered emblem, cheapened cleats, one tower made to fit multiple boats, 1 sided fuel tank opening.

The original 2 crossover boats were renamed, slightly redesigned, and designed with cost of materials in mind.

Jbehr99,

Check out this thread for making the x10 a surf machine. Wake makers has a 820lb bag that fits very well. I have them and they make a significant difference.

The XT21 and 23 hulls are not just renamed updates. They are new hulls. The towers have always been interchangeable. Have you seen how they bolt together?

What are the differences in the hulls? I mean the actual running surface not just the gel lines on the side. I would like to know, I'll be upgrading in the future and likely to a xt23. That is if I can get a fuel cap on the port side (I'm hoping a special request and build).

Yeah they're different running surfaces. Our 30s wakes are completely different from the XT23

Yep, that's exactly what I did..... plug and play, adjust the timers and you are good to go.

I got the x10 as I placed my order in Sept for a Jan delivery... could i have changed?.... probably.. but I like my x10 and the features it had. The xt21 went up in price and while a couple small things changed for the better (more ballast mainly and a slightly tweaked hull design) IMO I was getting more of what I wanted in the X10 still.

The towers on all the MY17S are the same.. x10 or xt21. Identical

This is the thread I was referencing when i stated that the towers were interchangeable. The towers have changed from previous ZFT4 towers to 2017 ZFT4 towers. The OP was only referencing 2017 x10 vs xt21 so the towers are most likely the same.
