We’re coming from Newbury Park. We grab a houseboat in antlers and head to salt creek to cove up. Used to camp at lakeshore but after getting a house boat about four years ago due to the drought my wife never wants to go back to sleeping on the ground.

We’ll have two houseboats and three ski boats this year. Would love to trade a tow for a tow behind a X2 or an nxt22 if you head our way. We’ll be the group thinking we’re younger and better then we are with way too many kids and listening to Zach brown...

Cool, we'll have a solid navy blue '07 X2, a red/black '07 X2, and a yellow '03 X2. We'll be in Salt Creek for sure a few days.

I’ll be at Shasta the week of July 23. Renting a houseboat out of Shasta Marina. I have a question for those of you that have done this before. My wife doesn’t want to do the drive in one shot. Probably going to leave the day before and spend the night somewhere a couple of hours from the lake. Anyone have any suggestions of where to stay a couple hours south of the lake that isn’t sketchy and I can leave my boat and Sea-Doo’s parked outside?

A couple hours south of the lake you are looking at the Williams area. There is rolling hills casino in Corning that is probably an hour and 15 or so south of the lake. It’s right off the freeway. I live in Redding and make the trip to Sacramento regularly. If I had to stay somewhere between Sac and Redding it would be the casino in Corning. May be a little closer that what you’re wanting. Willows is between Corning and Williams. I know there a few hotels and restaurants there. Not sure how secure they are. Everything north of Sacramento is little farming towns of probably 10k population or less.
