Looks like I have another project on my list! I recall reading about this but never followed through.

After this, the CATs run much cooler and my temperature stays much more constant at 160*. If you run it hard then shut it down, you may get some heat soak above 160* but as long as it is running, mine never gets above 165*.

It also takes significantly longer to reach 160* after a cold start with the new plumbing.

If you don't know how old the impeller is, or if it is over a year old, I'd replace that too. It should be a Johnson 09-812B.
Thanks Brian! Was this pretty easy to do yourself? My dealer is closed today, but I might check with them tomorrow to see what they know about it. Probably take the boat up there to see if they can read code. Curious to see if it will still be stored since it ran fine after restarting it.

Where do you guys order the impeller from?

Hi All...

Not sure if this has been covered yet however I would like your insight and experiences. I purchased my 2010 X14V with LY6 this Spring and I'm really enjoying it. Went from my 197 to the X14V and although it does not have the performance of my 197, I LOVE the seating and function for a growing family of 5.

Now I'm playing with propping... My factory OJ is a 13.7 x 19.5 and I get 45.3 mph at 5350 rpms. It has enough out of the hole to pull me on a Back Barefoot Deep Start and plenty of speed to pull 2 barefooters at 43 mph.

I then ordered an Acme 14.00 x 17.75 and I get 45.5 mph at 5450 rpms (very similar) but I have noticeably more out of the hole which I really like... More reactive both out of the hole and when cornering.

So my question is this... For those of you with an X14V with the LY6... Does this sound about right in terms of a good combination of top end speed and what I consider to be good hole-shot OR do you have a better prop that you would recommend?

Thanks for your time...
DR

Fairly new to the thread. Just traded in my 1996 Prostar 205 for a 2009 Prostar 214V.....tough decision because I really loved the PS205. Never a problem with the 205, solid LT1 engine and taught all my kids to ski/board. Had to upgrade for more room and the kids want to learn to surf. I miss the ski wake of the 205 but so far the 214V has been a good trade.

Replacement Transom Step Pad

Help, I'm looking for a replacement transom step pad (PN 550710). I've contacted MC and they said the original manufacturer has gone out of business and consequently the part is no longer available. Checked with Great Lakes skipper and no luck there either. Any suggestions on where to go to find a replacement?

If you remove it, could you order a Sea Dek pad? I assume it's solid underneath. Could be the way to go if you also need to re-do your carpeting.
