2001 XStar Hard Tank Removal - Ballast Pump Leak

First post, so take it easy on me I've done a little searching and can't seem to find the right thread to address my question so figured I would post.

In preparation for the upcoming install of my wakemakers hard tank replacement bags, I went ahead and removed the port-side hard tank from the sundeck compartment. The replacement bags haven't arrived, but i got a chance to take the boat out last night for a cruise and noticed that the in-flow pump to the hard tank i removed was dripping water into the hull. It was not a rapid flow of water, but enough to make me nervous. Rather than leaving the boat in its slip, i took it out to better assess.

My plan is to wait for the replacement bags to get here and install them in hopes of that fixing the issue, but wanted to ask if anyone has any other ideas as to why running the boat without a hard tank would cause the in-flow pump to leak... maybe an issue completely unrelated to the hard tank removal, but since it coincided with pulling the tank, I'm assuming i've disrupted the system somehow and caused the leak.

Thanks in advance.

Probably just need to replace the impellers in your ballast pumps.

I think he means GPH. The 2001 boats came with Johnson cartridge pumps, which don't have the aforementioned impeller.
