For surfing we have used a board mount which is OK but the best was off the back corner below the deck so the rope does not interfere. This is shot with a pole off the side of the boat which is good but a pain in the butt to constantly hold it there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ymx4WBHlU0 Off the back with remote is the easiest. For wake boarding ditch the gopro and build a simple rope tracking device and attach your phone to it. You will be too small with gopro wakeboarding. If interested let me know and I can post pics of the mount I made for the phone

I also think the camera is too close. The mount was lent to me by jakethebt and it was his idea. I plan to duplicate with a longer pipe.

I did the video and edit. The footer was MGBOYD25.

The noodle is zipped tied to a pvc pipe that the rope goes through. There is a split T on the end where the V of the handle goes in to keep it from flipping.

I dont really know what happened that caused the camera to flip. He didn't spin the handle so it was either the mount or the whole thing rotated.

I've seen where a quick release attachment was zip tied to the rope. You could then place the camera anywhere you want. Just not sure how he knew where the top of the rope would always up and where the camera would twist making the image upside down or sideways.
