My Dealer Switched to Nautique

My dealer, WaterSports Central, switched yesterday from MC to Nautique. Very bummed. How often does this happen? (I'm wondering if the switch was made because MC put a second dealership in the Atlanta area last year).

Pretty discouraging...Also I would expect Mastercraft to have a plan and have the new dealership to reach out at least and introduce themselves...

I wonder if Watersports Central was mad about MC putting another dealer in Watersports area. It's truly sad that Watersports switched, made some really good friends at that dealer.

I thought it was a little odd when Skiers Marine opened up shop in the ATL market. My guess is this has been in the works for a while.

Well, at least their service department will have more work to do now. Imagine if they switched to malibu...they would have to hire a couple new technicians.

I heard that MC has greater expectations for some markets-and is encouraging the local dealers, who may be complacent with their boat sales - to sell more. If the dealership can't increase sales, MC is not afraid to try someone else.

Its all about going public and making the share holders happy.

MC put dealer in South Mississippi and it may have been the dumbest move I have seen. The dealer has an X23 they have been sitting on for 2 years now because they are in a terrible market and know ZERO about inboards.

The dealer helped me put when I needed a part but when they found out I had an X23, they asked me to come out on the boat to help dial it in because they said the X23 was not a very good surf boat lol.

Unfortunately it happens for any number of reasons. My local dealer used to be Texas Ski Ranch, and MasterCraft gave them the boot a few years ago. and it had nothing to do with sales numbers. TSR was the largest MC dealer in south Texas, to the point that they were running out of boats to sell before next model year. MasterCrafts were a dime a dozen on Canyon Lake, but not anymore. Now since TSR is selling Axis and Malibu, you can guess what we see more of now.

It's all about sales volume. If you can't perform they will find someone who will. General Motors, Ford, Honda, Polaris, Can Am (I mention these as I have direct contact with each) and a ton of accessories companies all set expectations (new sales, parts, service, facility, etc.) that you will be expected to meet. If you can't, big trouble coming. Granted, you can voluntarily get out.
