Hey Tim,

I've been off the grid for a while. I've been bouncing around the world over the past few years and decided to tap a root here in Seattle.

I took a job with Boeing and looking to get back on the water soon!

How are things with you?

Chief - welcome to the great NW!! You will enjoy the summers while the winters might wear you down but just keeping thinking of summer and you will make it through.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about the area, neighborhoods, and school districts if you have kids. Looks like you already have the low down on the local lakes, there are lots of them.

Loved all the time i spent in Seattle... So did the few ladies I met along the way.

Lots of great eateries and brew pubs... My fave - green lake tavern pizza...

Absolutely if you enjoy winter sports. I have spent many hours on Crystal and can have boots on at Alpental or the Summit in under 30 minutes from where I live but I would much rather drive to Crystal. My winter comment was based on the cloudy and drizzly days around Seattle.

Welcome to wet world. November is the worst month of the year IMO. From there it gets better. Oceanside to Kent will be a big adjustment but you sound game.

We're an odd bunch, lousy weather most of the year but the boating capital of the US. Invented most of the watersports and still home to most of the equipment manufacturers. Must be the Scandinavian influence. If you don't mind skiing/boarding on cold gray days you'll get lots of good water. Warm and sunny better get up real early. Being from cali you're used to that.

If you're up for a road trip eastern WA has some great lakes that are not too crowded. Summer time is sunny and hot. Winter is too cold for most. Check out the columbia river (wanapum, entiat, Roosevelt, banks). Chelan is nice too but not real good for water sports.

Enjoy.
