Been there with my old 197 though never that bad. It's one of the reasons we sold.

The trick I found is this. If you're not in a position to speed up and raise the bow (pretty common in no wake zones or when there isn't time) just reverse hard. Water won't come over the bow if you are going the same speed as the waves or faster.
