Bit of a threadjack here....currently have a S&W MP9mm but looking at adding a plinker (mainly for cheaper time at the range and having my wife and son be comfortable shooting). Anyone have the S&W .22 or Ruger SR.22? I think I've narrowed it down to those two.

Ended up getting a Sig .22 Mosquito. Cool little gun, fun to shoot and a bit less expensive than the 9. Son and wife like it too. Only likes high-velocity ammo but other than that no drawbacks yet.

I wanna play... Kahr CW9

Went with this as my first pistol, little bigger than the CM9. I like how I can get all fingers on it. Feels good in my hand. Will eventually get the CM or LCP/LC9 as I get more range time for my true cc gun.

I'm getting one of these commemorative pistols, for practicing my handling skills in the house-

Ruger is coming out with a new pistol in honor of

the United States Senate and the House of Representatives.

It will be named the “Congressman”.

It doesn't work and you can't fire it.

Non gun owner here. Some of the pics show a double? trigger, what's that for? IMHO - Those Kahr's look like works of art.

Also, what's the effective range for these small hand guns?

Like a pivot in the middle of the trigger? That's a safety. If you try to squeeze the upper part of the trigger, it won't fire. Some have additional safeties- maybe along the back of the grip, some won't fire if the magazine is removed, etc.

As far as range, here's a guy on YouTube who goes by Hickok45 and he was shooting a metal disc that he calls 'the gong' from about 80 yards with a compact semi-automatic pistol (Smith & Wesson M&P9mm Shield model), with nothing to rest the gun or his hand on.
