Any feedback on this amp? My dual voice coil sub is essential 2 subs in 1 correct? (as far as the power needed)?

http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Kac-91...owViewpoints=1

Or what about something like this, and ditch the kenwood amp.
http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-MRX-V70...nnel+amplifier

Does that alpine have enough power to run the sub without damaging it? I really don't think I want 1000 watts blasting into my crotch when I'm rolling down the lake..

4d, 8d, 31 these are all just universal case sizes. The 8d is about 1/3 larger than 4d, a little higher and wider.
Interstate marine is only 4d size, lead/acid. All kinds of batteries at various price points, rating and composition.
Link - http://www.powerstridebattery.com/so...-battery-ub-8d
Don't get hung up on that battery, scroll down to the bottom and see all the other brands that correspond in size for example.
Its hard to be a quality lead/acid for performance on a budget when size is not a huge restrictor.

"no" to the alpine, not much better than what you have.

Kenwood would work - it would be 500 @ 4 ohm. Which is your only option since it is not 1ohm stable.
You said your sub is 1000w, my guess MAX. My ASSUMPTION is this is a single 12" and that its RMS is probably closer to 400. In which case this amp would work fine.
You cant have too much bass, IMO especially when coved. Just turn down bass boost when its not needed. Again, not enough power is what hurts equipment.

Wiring - For power distribution to amps; If more than one stereo battery, hook the Pos to one battery, Neg to the last one in the group so current flows though all of them.
Run a Neg between battery banks and the Pos of the opposite end goes on post 2 of Perko.
Wire from alt/starter goes on the center Perko and Pos from start battery goes on post 1.

How about one of these for the four tower speakers and the sub?

So... I started rewiring everything over the weekend. I have no idea how this boat was wired the first time, but it was a mess. It had two sets of wires going to the tower, then it looked like they ran the tower speakers in series, then bridged the connections at the amp. Whatever they had going on, it made the tower speakers volume fade in and out every 30 seconds or so, so something was up. I rewired the tower with 4 sets of 12 guage wire so each speaker has it's own dedicated channel of wiring (That was a beeotch to do). Now the kenwood amp is powering the 4 tower speakers, and they work perfectly. I also pulled all the old speakers out of the cabin of the boat and started running new wire for all of those. I ran out of wire though, so waiting on more to finish things up. I decided I'm going to just buy a 3rd amp for the sub. Just going to go with a cheaper brand for now until I have more money to sink into this. The addition of a couple batteries is going to set me back a lot. Thanks for all the suggestions and help sloop, and David.

By the way, here's my sub:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...XW1012DVC.html
Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW1012DVC

Without spending a bunch of money on the amp, what should I look for? Is 250W for each voice coil, or is it 125 per coil?
