Clarion speakers all shot!! Replacement ideas?

I have an 04 xstar with a clarion stereo system. all my 6.5 speakers are shot. What is the best place to get replacements. I am not trying to blast out the lake looking for a decent price replacement. Is it ok to put different speakers other than clarion in there?

you can put in any speaker that fits in the 6.5" hole.. you can go up in size if you want to make a bigger hole...

Polk, Fozgate make marine speakers as does JL a fine sounding speaker...

bang for buck is a polk IMO...

search the thread for ideas on price and performance

lots of online or ebay..

Just be careful how you interpret this. The hole is not actually 6.5", so dont buy a speaker that fits a 6.5" hole. Most 6.5" class speakers require a 5 to 5-1/4 inch hole.

For a quality marine speaker thats middle of the road budget wise, I suggest the (in not particular order) Kicker KM654CW (add an L for LEDs), Wet Sounds XS or SW 65i (also offer an RGB LED model),the JL MX650 (offers a blue LED IIRC) and the Rockford PM262.

Id say sub $200 p/pair. Upper end is going to be in the $300 p/pair range.

I echo what MLA recommended. You can get the Kicker KM654LCW (the LED model that comes with charcoal and white grills) on amazon for $104 per pair: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H4...rch&th=1&psc=1

I have an older model Kicker KM6LW that I upgraded to from my old Clarions and they sound very good. They are only 6” with 1/2” tweeters vs the 6.5” with 3/4” tweeters of the KM654LCW, so I think the 654 would sound even better.

I know some people on here like the Polk db651 for budget speakers, but those aren’t marine speakers, whereas the Kicker KM series are. For a budget marine speaker I think Kicker is hard to beat.

Those kickers seam reasonable and looks like they come in white but I can't find the specs anywhere to make sure they will fit in the existing whole.

They will fit. At worst, you may need to hit the hole with a drum sander. Will likely be making knew mounting screw holes.
