As you make the right hand turn continue and you'll then see markers B4, then B6 on your right. You'll see Christmas Tree Island ahead and keep that on your right as you proceed. Marker BU1 should be on your left and continue up the channel past BR1 (don't turn at BR1) and keep going until you pass BU5 on your left. As you pass BU5 - just keep going, lots of pasture and undeveloped land in this area. At the very end of the channel/cove sits the ski course. When I've been up there, the water level was low and it's really shallow. I don't have any experience driving a course so I've never pulled anyone through it. I've talked to Smith Mountain Water Ski Club members, nice folks that are on the course most weekend mornings - might want to hit them up for more details. Thanks for the info!

Mastercraft SML - get together

Wondering if there is any interest to pull our the MC SML group together this summer for a float or drinks. Depending on the size of our group we can host at our place or plan to float in a cove.
I'm thinking late July or August - can be flexible.
Speak up or DM me

I learned to ski on SML in the early 80s but ended up with friends on Leesville Lake. I took my 87 Prostar to SML on a weekend to visit an old friend and I swore that I would never do that again. SML is beautiful and there is a lot to do around the lake, but I'm used to glass water all day on Leesville (if you don't mind dodging logs if the water is up). I have a Maristar 200VRS now, and still don't think that I would be on SML on a weekend. Just spoiled I guess.

too bad to hear that. for the size of SML there is plenty of clean glass nearly everyday. head up Gills or Blackwater. both had fantastic areas to rip glass

We got a house on Leesvillle many years ago, so no real need to go to SML. It's a give and take. We really like the quiet serenity but there is nothing on the lake other than gas.

Honestly, apart from holiday weekends, even the "busy" sections of the lake aren't that busy, which is remarkable considering how many houses are on the lake.

I have been to leesville a couple of times. Nice and quiet. Went once last fall and there was a bass tournament. Must have been forty boats in fron of me at the ramp.
