After weeks.. finally bought a boat

I've been on the hunt for a Prostar 205 for weeks now and every one I have came across something has came up or the seller has acted flaky.. I found this 99 Mastercraft Sportstar local to me and it was priced kinda high and made an offer and the guy accepted.. hours before purchasing it almost got sold from underneath me for a higher cash price, but the guy stalled out...

The engine was replaced around 3-4 years ago due to the previous owner not winterizing it properly.. Overall the hour meter reads 330 hours.

- Interior was replaced
- Big air vapor tower with kicker speakers and light bar
- Fat sack with pump included
- Pack less shaft seal system (never seen this and know nothing about them)
- Two batteries with perko switch

Took it for a test ride.. steering is flawless, ran great... I bought it

Only thing I have found wrong with it... The tower speakers are the only ones that sound good, the speakers on the inside of the boat sound terrible and the speedo on the far right doesn't work... the one on the left was fluctuating..

I hand washed it and wiped it down on the inside, it's still kinda dirty need some good cleaner..

What do you guys think?

Congrats on the purchase!! Good for you and it looks like a nice boat..

The speakers?? Maybe the tower speakers are run off an amp and the others are not??

You might just need to clean out the pickup or worst case, replace it.

Good luck to you!

Thanks man... Is the pickup the things on the back of the boat below the swim platform?

There are two amps in the boat.. one for the towers and one for the others, but the speakers just look old.. maybe they are worn out

Yes, the pickups are below the platform and by the exhaust. They hang below the bottom of the boat and water flows into them. It could be clogged, or just bad.

Verify both amps are working and tuned properly.

Plenty of threads on here about cleaning, just do some searching. Two most popular seem to be totally awesome cleaner and 303.
