Have you ever seen Total Recall when Arnold picks the transmitter out of his brain. Yeah, get one of those. That ought to do it.

sooo yeah. its still in there. i got a small borescope and looked in the cylinder, couldnt see it. the walls looked great though! ha.

I'd like to turn the engine over by hand to get that cylinder at the top of the stroke, problem is, i have no idea how to do that. any ideas?

On an old boat like mine it is as simple as putting a large wrench on the crankshaft pulley and turning. I assume your raw water pump is attached there. Not sure how feasible removing the raw water pump is to gain access.

Making sure the key is no where near the ignition, you can turn the engine by hand by grabbing the belt and grunting a little. That's assuming you can get at it.

I am more concerned you cant see it with a borescope. If it went in the spark plug hole you should be able to see it. There is no where for it to go. I would keep looking.
