Testing warning lights - Water & trans temp

I would like to test my warning lights to make sure they work. In addition to the little red light, is there a buzzer?

I would imagine all this requires is grounding the sender wire to trigger?

Is the temp warning light sender on top of the t-stat housing, tan wire?

I was able to test engine temp warning light by grounding the tan wire on top of t-stat housing. No buzzer sounded.
