Just verified with MMS, who sell the most MC in the world. Mooring cover IS NOT Sunbrella. Bimini is, but the factory OEM is not.

They aren't factory MC covers then.

OEM covers, at least the black ones like my X2 has is not Sunbrella. It is Surlast made by Glen Raven who also makes Sunbrella. (what I have read)

Surlast, that's the word I was looking for. Big difference between that and Sunbrella.

Looking at Ski Boat Covers (The Canvas Shoppe) and they only have ones listed upto year 2011 for the X25. I need one for a 2013 or 2014, any suggestions? Also these seem pricey, like close to $1000 shipped, is that reasonable?

great covers btw!!
I don't have an Evolution cover. Mine is a Coversports cover. Same concept, however. Both Evolution and Coversports were started by former Rankin covers employees. Rankin is no longer in business. My Coversports cover has been excellent and I know that people with Evolution covers have been satisfied as well.

As for the brand link, when they first left Rankin, Evolution tended to do Malibu and Coversports tended to do Correct Craft. They have each branched out to other brands since then.

An oft posted picture of my cover. No snaps. No poles. Trailerable. I have towed through a virtual monsoon with it and my boat interior was bone dry when I got home.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.

I went with Evolution Covers based on east tx skier review of his Coversports version. I LOVE that it's poleless. Because my boat is 23', we have to add a loop for a bungee to bring everything into taunt, tent form (meaning the water is shed by the pitch of the cover). Corey was fantastic to work with. Every person that ever helps me put my cover on says it's the best they've ever seen...including folks at my marina. I will never go back to poles. Huge fan.

Based on your endorsement, I just ordered a Coversports cover. Dealt with Brent. He said they have patterns for many older MC's. I couldn't believe how affordable it was. Late season discount or something. Last day to order one for this year is tomorrow. After that they lay off much of their staff until orders pick up in the Spring. If anyone wants to get in touch with them their number is (425) 491-9641 or email is theprocover@gmail.com
