Launch ramp options this weekend (Morris IL)

Quick question for the Illinois river guys...

Last year when I first bought my boat, I went to use the Morris ramps and ran right into the Grundy County corn festival. The whole thing was blocking my way to the ramp, and I ended up having to use the other entrance with the bridge. (you know, the one that says don't drive a trailer across it)

Are there any other places close to Morris with ramps? The festival is scheduled for this weekend, and I would like to avoid getting stuck in the middle of a parade, again...

If you head down to Seneca, there are some launches. The public launch is newer, but very steep and long. I have never used it. There are launches at the Marina's south of the river (Blacks, Hidden Cove - think it is called Seneca Yacht Club now, etc...). A bit further of a drive, but you could avoid the congestion. The bridge that you are talking about - it that the one off east of Rt. 47, through the park? I have used it for years and never noticed a sign.

You could meet up with me and Mike at the basin in Channahon.

We have always entered the park on the west side of 47 and I think Washington street where the wooden bridge is...never had any issues.

Only thing I would suggest is about 10 blocks before you get to the bridge, make a right off of 47 and head west to the street that the bridge is on. You will avoid all that traffic as you will be west already.

No need to head all the way down to Seneca and waste all that gas. Not sure if the ramps down by the resturant are public or if they are private for the marinas and you would have to pay a launch fee.

^^^ - what Rockman says. Big Basin not a bad option either. If you go to Big Basin - a couple of hazards there at the confluence of Kankakee - where Illinois River starts. Wing dam and shallows before Dresden lock.

Locals only by the casino. Head towards the Kankakee Tristar.
