Boat Hoist Canopy Help

It is time for me to replace our hoist canopy. After 8 years and numerous repairs the vinyl is dry rotted and the stitching is rotted beyond repair. Canopy was original vinyl coated polyester. It looks like there are other material options out there such as Shelter-Rite PVC coated polyester or marginally expensive Weather Max more of a breathable cloth type material. However I am not certain how breathable material is that important on a boat hoist. Has anyone have experience with either or materials? Any experience or advice or anyone you can recommend will be appreciated.
