Check engine light

I am getting the light, no alarm sounds, intermittently in no particular pattern. I could run for an hour pulling or cruising and the light will come on, or it may light up on my first pull. All guages are normal as is the engine's operation. All I have to do is shut off the engine, then restart, and the light goes out for a while. Any ideas?

Mine has behaved similarly and it turned out to be the knock sensor. Without reading the codes you will never really know what the error source is.

Had same issue on my 2001. See my earlier post. Turned out to be the hi temp switch failed and began randomly coming on (but dimly). You can verify by disconnecting it and see if the light goes out.
